Project background.
JHA Engineering was tasked with contributing lighting design to a new junior school building at Marist College. After the completion of the building, we were engaged to capture the lighting design at dusk, showcasing how the lighting enhanced the architecture.
The objective.
The primary goal was to conduct a dusk photoshoot to capture the building with its lighting. The focus was specifically on the lighting and how it enhanced the building’s architectural features.
Process & challenges.
The main challenge faced was coordinating with the third-party client at the college. This involved ensuring property access and confirming that the lights would be operational at the specific time needed, particularly as the shoot was scheduled for the last day of the semester when normal operations might not be in effect.
To overcome these challenges, careful communication and planning were necessary to guarantee all elements aligned for the photoshoot.
Implementation.
We executed the shoot at dusk, carefully timing the session to showcase the interaction between the lighting and the architecture as designed by the engineers. This timing was crucial to capture the intended effect of the lighting design.
The impact
The resulting photographs served a significant purpose beyond mere documentation. We were used by JHA Engineering to enter an award, helping them showcase their skills and talents to potential clients. This visual representation of their work became a powerful tool for demonstrating their expertise in lighting design and its integration with architecture.
